By Julia Ramey

Published on April 17, 2008

With its focus on modern dance, contemporary classical music and new media, today’s Fresh Fridays performance could be considered the future of Houston’s arts scene. The Dominic Walsh Dance Theater will give the crowd a sampling of its refined modern movement with a sneak look at a new piece. The contemporary music ensemble Musiqa will present The Scirocco Winds, playing two pieces by modern American composers, including Eric Ewazen’s Roaring Fork, inspired by the scenery of the Rocky Mountains. Finally, the Southwest Alternate Media Project will round out the evening with selections from The Territory, the long-running short film showcase from Texas public television. 6 p.m. April 18. Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney. For information, call 713–956–5333 or visit www.fresharts.org. Free.
